Announcement: HADSA presents a lecture by the Japanese Designer Shigeru Uchida - The Design of Weakness

HADSA (History of Art and Design Student Association) cordially
invites you to a lecture by the Japanese Designer Shigeru Uchida at the
Pratt Manhattan Gallery on Wednesday, Oct. 14th at 2:00 PM. A reception
will follow.

Mr. Uchida's lecture is entitled "The Design of Weakness" and is based
on his recent publication "Japanese Design Philosophies- Time, Space,
Memory, Nature" from 2007.

Shigeru Uchida is a leading Japanese designer who has engaged in a
variety of projects worldwide including architectural interiors,
furniture and industrial design, and urban planning. His work will be
on display at Ippodo Gallery and Gana Art Gallery in Chelsea beginning
October 15th.

HADSA would like to thank Nick Battis and the Pratt Manhattan Gallery
for making their space available during their current show "Design Jazz:
Improvisations on the Urban Street." HADSA would like to also thank the
Ippodo Gallery and Michael McKenna for providing interpreting services,
as well as the staff at Uchida Design Inc. for all of their assistance in
arranging this lecture.
