Announcement: Memorial Service for Professor Bob Fiala this Sunday

A celebration of the multifaceted life of the late Professor Robert "Bob"
Fiala will be held on Sunday, January 25 in Memorial Hall from 11:30
AM-1:00 PM. All are welcome to attend.

Robert Bharatan Fiala, adjunct associate professor, Media Arts, died on
November 15, after teaching such subjects as drawing, painting,
sculpture, design, film and video, and yoga at Pratt Institute for 44
years.

Fiala was born in Presov, Czechoslovakia and survived the Holocaust Era
before immigrating through Canada to the United States. He received a
B.A. from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada and went on to earn an
M.F.A. at Pratt Institute in 1965. He also studied at the St. Martin
School of Art and Design in London. Fiala studied yoga and meditation
with some of the world's spiritual masters and received a degree in
licensed massage therapy from the Swedish Institute. During the 1960s and
1970s, he served as creative director of the Multigravitational Aerodance
group, which performed throughout the world.
