Announcement: Internationally Renowned Architect Richard Meier to Speak at Pratt on Monday, Nov. 3

Internationally renowned architect Richard Meier will speak as
part of the Pratt Institute School of Architecture Fall Lecture Series at
6PM on Monday, November 3, 2008 in Memorial Hall Auditorium on Pratt's
Brooklyn Campus. Meier will explore recent projects completed by his
firm, Richard Meier and Partners Architects LLP.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

Throughout his distinguished career Meier has received the highest honors
in architecture, including the 1997 American Institute of Architects
(AIA) Gold Medal, the Praemium Imperiale from the Japanese Government in
recognition of a lifetime achievement in the arts, and the 1984 Pritzker
Architecture Prize. He holds 29 National AIA Honor Awards and 53 Regional
AIA Design Awards.

Meier has been awarded major commissions in the United States and Europe,
including The Getty Center, Los Angeles; The High Museum, Atlanta; The
Frankfurt Museum of Decorative Arts, Germany; Canal+ Television
Headquarters, Paris; Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art; The Hartford
Seminary, Connecticut; and The Atheneum, New Harmony, Indiana.

The architect has also authored many books, monographs, and magazine and
newspaper articles. He serves on the board of directors of the
Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum and the American Academy in Rome.

Meier is a former faculty member and honorary degree recipient at Pratt
Institute who currently holds the Frank T. Rhodes Class of 1956
University Professorship at Cornell University, where he received a
bachelor of architecture degree in 1957.
