Announcement: Reception for Photo Documentary on Roots Music in New York City at CCPS Gallery on June 20

WHERE THE DIRT ROAD MEETS THE ASPHALT
A Photo Documentary of Roots Music in NYC

CCPS Gallery
Pratt Manhattan
144 West 14th Street, 2nd Floor
New York, NY 10011
Through July 14, 2008

Reception: June 20, 2008, 7-9 PM

Photographer and former Center for Continuing and Professional Studies
student Kimberlee Piper credits a guitar teacher for teaching her songs
that inspired her love of "roots music," including country and bluegrass.

After attending the first Washington Square Park reunion of musicians
whose careers represented almost fifty years of roots music in New York
City, Piper decided to combine her love of photography and music in a
photoseries that captures the surprisingly robust country and bluegrass
music scene in the city. The bands she has documented comprise people
from all walks of life-from professional musicians to those who play
strictly for fun.

This exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Gallery
hours are Monday through Thursday 10 AM-8 PM; Friday through Sunday, 10
AM-4 PM.
