Announcement: Media Arts to Present Juried Selection Of Senior Student Film Work at BAM, Monday, May 5
selection of senior work in narrative, documentary, experimental, and
animated styles at Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Rose Cinemas on 30
Lafayette Avenue at a 7 p.m. on Monday, May 5. The screening is free and
open to the public though reservations are required and can be made by

This is the fourth year that BAM is hosting the senior show for the Pratt
Department of Media Arts.
Pratt's Department of Media Arts encompasses photography, film, video,
and animation in one academic program in which students elect a specific
field of concentration while surveying the department's other areas. The
Media Arts program emphasizes an awareness of fine arts traditions as
well as of the professional disciplines of the contemporary media artist.
About one-third of the students work in documentary filmmaking, a third
in experimental, and a third in narrative.
The department promotes critical thinking and autonomy across the
spectrum of media making. Its graduates are expected to demonstrate
excellence in artistic vision and professional skills, innovation, and a
contextual understanding of their work in contemporary culture.
