Announcement: Pratt to hold 12-hour write-a-thon April 11
Pratt Institute will hold a 12-hour Write-A-Thon on Friday, April 11,
2008 from 7 PM until 7 AM in Main Building, 5th Floor, of 200 Willoughby
Avenue between Classon Avenue and Hall Street in Brooklyn, in conjunction
with its 20th annual Draw-A-Thon. Admission is $10.00 in advance and
$15.00 at the door; entry into the Draw-A-Thon is automatic entry to the
Write-A-Thon.
The Write-A-Thon will include readings and mini-workshops by Pratt
faculty and special guests on exquisite corpse, oulipo, collaborative
writing, renga, and improvisational performance. Write-A-Thon materials
will be provided, including typewriters, watercolor, pencils, butcher
paper, glue, writing pads, calligraphic pens and ink, and scissors as
well as old books, magazines, and newspapers for collage. Music, pizza,
and coffee also will be provided.
Kimberly Lamm, Director of Writing Across the Curriculum, is coordinator
of the Write-A-Thon and Doug Wirls, associate professor at Pratt, is
coordinator of the Draw-A-Thon. Both events are hosted by the Foundation
Art Department.
The Write-A-Thon is sponsored by Writing Across the Curriculum, a program
that, since 1970, has worked to foster creative collaboration between
curricula through writing.
