Announcement: Annual Costumed Readout Hosted by America Reads Program: March 24-28
Read to children on your lunch hour.
Pratt's America Reads/Counts program invites the Pratt community to read
a book to a child. On Friday, March 28th 2008 from 10-2pm Pratt
Institute's America Reads Counts program is hosting its Annual Costumed
Readout in the Pratt Gym. The Pratt gym, which seats over 3000, will be
filled with children and tutors reading to them. Pratt's America Reads
tutors will also be face painting, teaching Braille, reading in English,
Spanish and Sign Language to over 800 children. Parents, teachers and
administrators are welcome. Every year we share this wonderful costumed
event with America Reads/Counts programs at other colleges such as NYU,
LIU, and Fordham University.
Some familiar faces that will be present include Brooklyn Borough
President Marty Markowitz, NAACP President Karen Boykin-Towns, Committee
Chairperson Coran James, Author Leslie Hall-Federman, Fantastic Frank and
Stan Raja of the book, The Young Explorers. This is a free event and
Pratt administrators, faculty, students, community residents and their
children are welcome.
