Announcement: Recent my.pratt.edu Outages

To the Pratt Community,

I would like to address the sporadic outages that have affected
my.pratt.edu since the start of the term. As with any other campus-wide
software we need to periodically install vendor updates to Pratt's
student information system to meet security or regulatory requirements.
We have a regular schedule for testing and installing these updates and
we enlist the help of end-users and administrative departments to try to
ensure that their processes aren't negatively affected.

While every attempt is made to ensure stability, the latest updates
prevented users from accessing a variety of tools on my.pratt.edu.
Although the vendor update was not designed to affect any portal
processes, unfortunately it did just that. At the end of last week it
appeared that the problem was corrected. Over the weekend however we
began to receive calls reporting intermittent problems with the Academic
Tools tab. We have fixed those remaining problems as of today. Please
note that some users who tried logging into my.pratt.edu during the
outage may need to call the Help Desk at 718-636-3765 to find out how to
quickly fix a browser problem when accessing the site.

My colleagues and I in the IT division recognize and regret the
disruption this outage has caused. I want to extend my apologies to all
of those members of the community who were affected by this problem, in
particular to the students. If you have any questions concerning this
please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Joseph M. Hemway
