Announcement: Pratt to Participate in Two-Day Sustainability Teach-in Wednesday and Thursday, January 30 and 31

On Wednesday and Thursday, January 30 and 31, Pratt will participate in
"Focus The Nation," a national teach-in on global warming solutions for
America. More than a thousand colleges, universities, and other
institutions, and millions of students and faculty members across the
country are expected to participate.

Metropolis magazine will cover "Focus the Nation," and Pratt Institute
will be one of only two colleges nationwide to be featured in the pages
of the publication.

On Wednesday, January 30, Pratt will display the half-hour webcast "Face
IT! Finding Solutions to Global Warming" at multiple locations across
campus. The webcast will be presented by Architecture 2030, an
organization founded by Ed Mazria. The Institute will host another
interactive webcast, "The 2% Solution," at an event starting at 7 PM in
Pratt's Student Union. There will be free pizza and music, along with a
nationwide body painting competition, titled "Visualizing Global Warming
through the Painted Form," sponsored by Architecture 2030 and Metropolis.
Prizes total $20,000, and the winner will receive a full page in the
magazine.

On Thursday, January 31, Pratt will present a variety of panel
discussions and exhibitions, featuring faculty and staff members, alumni,
artists, architects, designers, and community leaders involved in
sustainable efforts. Through these events, the Pratt community will
explore the impact of sustainability on the future careers of our
artists, designers, and architects; learn how Pratt is taking on the
challenge to reduce its carbon footprint; and be inspired by the real
world, environmentally conscious work being done by Pratt's students and
faculty, non-for-profit organizations, and representatives in city
government.

"Focus the Nation" at Pratt will end with a panel discussion moderated by
Susan Szenasy, editor in chief of Metropolis magazine.
