Announcement: Digital Arts Presents the Exhibition Syn-Biosis: Synthetic Biological Systems
the Department of Digital Arts, will present "Syn-Biosis: Synthetic
Biological Systems," an exhibition featuring interactive artwork from
students in the multidisciplinary course Advanced Art of Electronics,
from December 14-19 in the Steuben West Gallery on the first floor of the
Juliana Curran Terian Design Center. The exhibition will open with a
reception on December 14 from 7-9 PM. The show and reception are free and
open to the public.
Advanced Art of Electronics is a study in the creation and programming of
physical interactive interfaces for art making. Students create artworks
that use electronics to communicate meaning and behavior, responding to
the human urge to synthesize, mimic, and reflect biological systems with
technology. A set of touch-communicators, an interactive projector,
responsive sound and lighting swarms, and astronomic kinetic sculpture
are among the interactive items in the show.
Participating artists include Aaron Cohen, Steve Faletti, Ken Liu, Dylan
Moore, Laurie Sumiye, and Flint Weisser. Viewing hours are Saturday 12-4
PM; Monday 12-4 PM; Tuesday, 12-8 PM; and Wednesday, 12-8 PM. The
gallery is closed on Sunday, December 16.
